Jane Austen started but never completed ‘The Watsons’. But Laura Wade, famous for plays like ‘Riot’ and ‘Home, I’m Darling’, has taken what Austen wrote, with the aim of completing the tale in an Austenesque manner, with everyone happily married.

But that is not how the characters respond. Instead, the play becomes a battle between the author’s vision and her characters’ freedom of choice.

In a wonderfully surreal take on the meaning of life and a writer’s art, the manicured Regency world collides with futuristic possibilities.
